Robert and Mark Krembil's CHIEFSWOOD STABLE has been on a roll this summer and last week it won five races with four different trainers. Two of them were huge longshots.
Three of them were by the Krembils own stallion Yorkton, who stands in Kentucky.
A multiple winner of the Sovereign Award for Outstanding Owner, Chiefswood raises and trains its homebreds at farms in Nobleton and Loretto, Ontario. This year the stable has 14 winners through August 3, closing in on its top mark of 20 wins earned the past two seasons.
The winning streak began on July 27 when Pipers Reign, a first-time starter and third generation Chiefswood-bred won his career debut in a turf sprint at 34 to 1. The bay gelding by Yorkton was just the second Chiefswood starter for trainer Ron Sadler. Sadler would then win with the 7-year-old War Court. Last weekend, Stuart Simon sent out the Yorkton filly Spun Around to break her maiden and Sid Attard won with Yorkton's Honour (also by Yorkton).
Rachel Halden had the Quality Road colt Borealis Trail ready to win in his grass debut and that colt paid 22 to 1.
The Chiefswood runners are managed by former jockey Robert Landry.
