BACKSTRETCH APPRECIATION DAY

Last week we celebrated our hard-working backstretch workers with our annual Backstretch

Appreciation Day. Trainers, Assistant Trainers, Exercise Riders, Grooms and Hotwalkers came by our

HBPA office at Woodbine to pick up a free hoodie. As part of the celebrations the HBPA formally

recognized three Outstanding Grooms and Assistant Trainers.

FUNDRAISER FOR JAMAICA

As you are all aware, Hurricane Melissa has devasted Jamaica. In attempt to help and acknowledge our

workers from the island, the HBPA held a 50/50 fundraiser draw to assist those affected.

We are proud to announce due to the hard work of the Jockey’s Agents, led by Neal Wilson, Woodbine

Entertainment staff, and our own Horsemen’s Representative Corinne Phillips, we were able to raise a

total of $3,000. Earlier this week, we held the 50/50 draw and the luck winner of $1,500 was Tyler

Gaskin!

for opening your hearts and wallets to help those in need.

On behalf of our members, the HBPA will be matching the $3,000

raised for Jamaica, along with a $2,000 donation to the Jamaican

SPCA to help those animals who have been hurt or left homeless
