Remembering Patches

The HBPA of Ontario offers its deepest sympathies to owner and breeder Frank DiGiulio, Jr., trainer Bob Tiller and his crew for the loss of 2024 Canadian Horse of the Year Patches O'Houlihan.

Bob made the announcement on his Instagram account on Thursday evening that his star runner's “very serious suspensory” injury, which occurred galloping out after his win in the Highlander Stakes on June 28, would not allow Patches to have good quality of life.

The very popular bay gelding by Reload – Maythefourthbwithu won 13 of his 16 career races and over $850,000. The Highlander win, under jockey Sofia Vives, was his second win in as many starts this year.
