In a thrilling display of speed and determination, veteran sprinter Old Chestnut clinched his first graded stakes victory in the Grade 3 Jacques Cartier Stakes at Woodbine on May 31, 2025. Guided by jockey Eswan Flores, the eight-year-old gelding surged to the front early, setting brisk fractions and fending off a challenge from Simcoe to win by 2¾ lengths in a swift 1:08.17. Trained by Marty Drexler and owned by Bruno Schickedanz, Old Chestnut had previously finished third and second in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the race, respectively. His victory, achieved as the longest shot on the board at 7-2 odds, marks his sixth career win and first of the 2025 season.
